Honoring Veterans, Military Service Members and Their Families

November 11, 2010

This Veteran’s Day, we want to honor the important work and sacrifices made by our veterans, military service members and their families.  Military families face unique challenges, and their pride, determination, and honor is truly a model of resilience.

We also want to draw attention to the important research being done by the Military Families Research Institute. The MFRI research program explores key experiences of military life, providing a more complete understanding of the complexities of the military experience and their implications for families.

In addition, the National Military Family Association is working to meet the critical needs of military spouses, parents and other family members through legislation, innovative programs and grassroots efforts.  NMFA recently participated in a congressional briefing on the importance of access to flexible work arrangements, citing that, “frequent deployments and high operational tempo are taking their toll on the mental health and well-being of military caregivers and children.”  Flexible work arrangements can play a critical role to ease the strain on military families.
